Ms. Wilsons epic biography of theactressof which the 1,000-page 'Steel-True' the titlealludes to a Robert Louis Stevenson poem is only the firstvolume.
The goal is to place the actresss life and workin context. But we often lose sight of Stanwyck in thethickets of information. Barbara Stanwyck and her careeris certainly worthy of biography. One just wishes that sheand her films could have been approached in a more criticaland more concise manner.
